Fan offering Peyton Manning his Flagstaff Cabin to sign with Arizona.

One man is going the distance to help Peyton Manning decide not to take his talents to South Beach. Arizona Cardinals fan Steve Sasman is offering up his Flagstaff Rental Cabin for the Manning family to use during Cardinals Training camp. The camp is held annually at the NAU campus in beautiful Flagstaff Arizona.

“I knew Peyton would have a tough decision.  While throwing to Larry Fitzgerald is enticing, we all know Peyton’s main criteria for his big decision is finding good Training Camp lodging.”

The Flagstaff Rental Cabin was tailor made for the Manning family. It has a huge King size fully adjustable bed with massage in the master bedroom for Peyton and his wife Ashley.  The adjustable bed will come in handy as Peyton rests his injury prone neck.  The second bedroom could even be used for his mother and NFL QB father Archie, and the downstairs bedroom has two queen beds for their twin children.

The Cabin that made Peyton a Cardinal

Knowing that this offer will seal the deal for the Cardinals, Sasman refused to take all the credit.  ”Look, I’m not going to take credit for single handedly revitalizing the Arizona economy and improving the emotional well being of every Cardinals fan. Even though by bringing Peyton here I’ve probably done more for Arizona sports than Jerry Colangelo, I remain humble”, said Sasman through his press secretary.

While the Flagstaff vacation rental won’t be avialable for the public to enjoy during training camp 2012, it’s a small price to pay to land the 4 time MVP.  However, Cardinals fans will rejoice in the fact that all future renters at the Flagstaff Rental Cabin will receive a “We’re Number 1″  Foam Finger autographed by Peyton’s daughter.

Flagstaff Rental Cabins – Best Beds In Arizona!

Ok, I will admit it. The beds that used to be in the Flagstaff Rental Cabin were just mediocre. But that has all changed! They have been upgraded in every way possible. Staying at the Flagstaff Rental Cabin is now like having your pick of a fine mattress store. There is something for everyone!

Best beds in Arizona

Master Bedroom - Best Beds in a Flagstaff Cabin - King size, Adjustable with Massage

Let’s start with the Master Bedroom. You will now enjoy a King Size fully Adjustable bed with Massage. Put the bed in any position that makes you comfortable. Feeling stiff? How about a soothing massage? Think it’s some regular old mattress? Think again. It’s an iComfort Memory Foam bed with cool gel technology. iComfort is similar to Tempur-pedic but has some newer technology. Did you want some high quality sheets and bedding? Will all Ralph Lauren bedding do the trick? I hope so!

King Size Fully Adjustable with Massage

Second Bedroom - King Size Fully Adjustable with Massage

Some people are not used to Memory Foam. That’s fine, just use the second bedroom that has the same exact set up…except it has a Simmons Beautyrest Mattress. Yes, like the one they use at the W Hotels.

Downstairs bedroom at the Flagstaff AZ Cabins

Downstairs Bedroom - Two Queen beds with all Ralph Lauren bedding

Downstairs offers you the same choices. Both are queen beds, (not adjustable or massage) but one is a Latex Foam bed. Latex is great since it’s natural and it’s known to sleep cool. The other bed is a standard spring mattress, but is a very comfy pillow top. As with the beds upstairs, all the bedding is from Ralph Lauren so you know you are sleeping in the best.

Flagstaff Vacation Rental Video

Have you ever wanted to stay in a Flagstaff Vacation Rental Cabin, but didn’t know where to look or where to stay?  Well hopefully this little video can help get you excited about making a choice, and making it happen! First of all, Flagstaff itself is such a great little town.  Nestled in at 7000 feet in a pine tree forest, it’s a world apart from the desert and Phoenix which is just 2 hours south.  It’s usually about 30 degrees cooler in the summer, and can get lots of snow in the winter for all the fun and snow activities you can think of. Head over to Snowbowl, even in the summer and take a ride up the mountain!

Historic downtown Flagstaff has lots to see and do year around, with great restaurants and quaint local shopping destinations. Hit the Rendezvous coffee bar for a drink or cocktail to plan your exploration of the town by talking to the friendly locals.

As far as the vacation cabin goes, take a look around the site to see all the amenities and pictures. It’s a great and cozy home base for all your Northern Arizona explorations. Once you visit once, you will already be plotting your next trip back!

New BBQ Grill at the Flagstaff Vacation Cabin

A deck without a good BBQ Grill is kind of like a bowl of plastic fruit.  It might look good, but where the heck is the flavor?  There is nothing like a relaxing evening with some tasty BBQ on the grill with a cool breeze while sitting on the deck.  Maybe a glass of wine and some good conversation tops off the setting.

BBQ Grill at the Flagstaff Cabin What are you going to BBQ?  Some traditional Hamburgers and Hotdogs?  What about some savory Salmon?  Roast some veggies and corn on the cob?   Wow, my mouth is watering already!

BBQ Grill and Table on the Deck

A great deck and BBQ Grill is one of the reasons why a Flagstaff Vacation Cabin will be a much more unique and memorable vacation than staying in a Hotel.  Most hotels are like McDonalds.  They are the same everywhere and have no soul, no character.  At a Rental Cabin, you get to enjoy an amazing area like Flagstaff the way it was ment to be discovered and explored.

New Cabin Appliances!

In 2010 we have added a new Dishwasher and a new Clothes Dryer to the Cabin.  Both the older units had lived long and productive lives.  May they rest in peace!  However, having modern and efficient appliances is something that we know our renters appreciate so I was happy to upgrade.

I was lucky enough to get  a very nice $1000 Dryer at Home Depot in Flagstaff for MUCH less since it was  a floor model and had a scratch on the side that will never even be seen. I do have to give the local Home Depot a lot of credit.  Even though it is a big chain store, at least in Flagstaff, the staff is amazingly helpful.  Not just once but I have been there dozens of times making both small and large improvements to the Flagstaff Vacation Cabin over the years and have always had great help from many different employees.

I think the attitude of  the Flagstaff Home Depot is a credit to the small town Flagstaff atmosphere.  People are friendlier, the pace is slower, and the smiles are quicker than in the big city.  Just one of the reasons Flagstaff is the perfect get-a-way.  Need more reasons?  Visit our previous post about Why Flagstaff?

Flagstaff Vacation Homes or a Hotel?

Flagstaff Vacation Homes

When it comes to picking a place to stay in Flagstaff Arizona, you have several choices. There are your standard Hotels and Motels. Can you say “borrrrrring”? You can go to a hotel in any city.  Another option is a Hostel, but that does not really make the cut for anyone who wants even the smallest amount of privacy.

Flagstaff Vacation Homes

The other choice is renting a Flagstaff Vacation Home or Bed and Breakfast. One of the great things about staying in a Vacation home in Flagstaff is that you get a much more local feel for what it is like to live there. It’s almost like going to a cool local restaurant versus going to McDonald’s or Olive Garden. With a chain, you get the same experience in every city. What is the point of leaving if you are not going to experience something new?

Especially if you have a group of 4 or more people, Flagstaff Vacation Homes can be a much better value than a Hotel or Motel.  With the privacy of your own home, you can truly relax.  Not only do you get bigger rooms, but you get an entire house! A deck, a living room, dining room, kitchen and more. What hotels have that?

Why vacation in Flagstaff Arizona?

Let me tell you, Flagstaff as a destination has a lot to offer. Especially if you live in Phoenix or Tucson, you will really appreciate how much different Flagstaff is, even though it’s just a 2 hour drive from Phoenix. The desert southwest has two seasons, hot and hotter. Go north my friends and you will see a full bouquet of seasons. Flagstaff is about 30 degrees cooler in the summer, and can have tons of snow in the winter. Plus the clean fresh smell of Pine trees is not something you will soon forget.  Flag, as the locals call it, is a big change of pace, and a whole different attitude.

Downtown Flagstaff

Flagstaff is a small, charming city. It’s the home of Northern Arizona University, so it’s got a youthful energy with lots of friendly people.  Do you like to shop for interesting art or one-of-a-kind items? It’s got you covered there. Me personally, I am more into interesting food!  Luckily, Flagstaff has some great local restaurants like Karma Sushi, Beaver Street Brewery, and Josephine’s. I know what you are thinking.  Flagstaff for sushi? Yes, Karma has sushi that rivals any in Phoenix, it’s amazing!  The Downtown Diner or The Place are perfect for some good ole breakfast.

The outdoor activities are amazing in Flagstaff. In the summer, you have mountain biking, fishing, hiking galore, and much more. In the winter, you have the best skiing and snowboarding in the state at Snow Bowl, which is just a few miles outside of town.  Are you like some in Phoenix who just want to see some snow for once?  Flagstaff is your place!  The winter of 2009 had 3 and 5 foot drifts of snow several times last year. Additionally, for the really skilled outdoor enthusiasts, there are several sledding hills!  There is even one near the entrance of Kachina Village and almost within sight of the Flagstaff Rental Cabin if it were not for all the trees.

Nearby Flagstaff you have beautiful Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon.  And to the north, there is that little attraction called the Grand Canyon.  It’s a short 90 minute drive from Flagstaff.  Heck, just driving to Flagstaff from Phoenix through Sedona is pure visual bliss.  If you haven’t been to Flagstaff, you are missing out on one of Arizona’s best kept vacation secret.

Flagstaff – Gateway to the Grand Canyon!

One of the best things about Flagstaff is its close proximity to the 7th wonder of the world, the Grand Canyon.  Many people come from around the world to see this incredible sight.  What is interesting to me is how many Arizona residents have never even seen it yet.  Probably because it is so close you think “I will get to it one day.”  Let me challenge you to cross this one off your list sooner rather than later.  It is worth it! Flagstaff Cabin - Grand Canyon

If you can, take the time to hike down to the bottom. There is nothing like the long hike down, then breaking at the bottom, eating a sandwich from your backpack and relaxing with friends while checking out the amazing views.  The hike out is challenging but very doable if you are a hiker in good shape.  We even made it out in just over 2 hours, but that is really trucking.  I would recommend going much slower, and enjoying the trip!

The Grand Canyon is about 90 minutes north of Flagstaff, and our Flagstaff Vacation Cabin.  Flagstaff is a great central hub to everything in Northern Arizona.  A quick day trip here, a camping trip there, or just some snowboarding or skiing in the winter.  Help keep the AZ economy strong by spending some time exploring the great things in your own backyard!
