One of the best things about Flagstaff is its close proximity to the 7th wonder of the world, the Grand Canyon. Many people come from around the world to see this incredible sight. What is interesting to me is how many Arizona residents have never even seen it yet. Probably because it is so close you think “I will get to it one day.” Let me challenge you to cross this one off your list sooner rather than later. It is worth it!
If you can, take the time to hike down to the bottom. There is nothing like the long hike down, then breaking at the bottom, eating a sandwich from your backpack and relaxing with friends while checking out the amazing views. The hike out is challenging but very doable if you are a hiker in good shape. We even made it out in just over 2 hours, but that is really trucking. I would recommend going much slower, and enjoying the trip!
The Grand Canyon is about 90 minutes north of Flagstaff, and our Flagstaff Vacation Cabin. Flagstaff is a great central hub to everything in Northern Arizona. A quick day trip here, a camping trip there, or just some snowboarding or skiing in the winter. Help keep the AZ economy strong by spending some time exploring the great things in your own backyard!
